SECTION 1.
Professor Caldecott to Sir Edward Grey.-(Received February 18.)
Sir,
King's College, London, February 18, 1910. IN reference to the professors' memorial upon the subject of Indo-Chinese opium trade, which I had the honour of forwarding to you on the 10th February, may I add two names, Professor Alexander, of Manchester, and Dr. Walker, of Cambridge?
I have had the list of names printed and the letters, and beg to enclose three copies for your use,* and should be happy to send more if they would be of any service.
It is in no way any desire to press for a reply except at your convenience, but I should be glad to know whether you would give permission for me to publish this memorial with the names and letters, or whether you would prefer that I should await your reply.
The matter is of urgent public interest, but the only purpose of our memorial is to show the Government what public opinion is upon the subject, with a view to strengthening it in taking, as we trust it will take, a forward policy in this grave situation.
I am, &c.
A. CALDECOTT, Professor of Moral Philosophy, King's College,
